The super typhoon with the planet’s most powerful winds so far in 2024, Typhoon Yagi first hit land on aligning dates (Sept. 1st and 2nd) over multiple countries such as Vietnam to Laos and to Thailand and Myanmar etc. This mainly led to fatal winds and heavy rains that in turn triggered landslides and floods. These natural disasters killed over 400 people and displaced hundreds of thousands out of their homes.
Aftermath of the typhoon in affected countries
- Vietnam: 292 killed and widespread property damage, with losses estimated at ?40 lakh crores crippling the economy of the nation.
- MYANMAR: At least 113 people killed, and more than 320,000 relocated to temporary shelters with the government issuing an international appeal for assistance.
- Laos, Thailand: Thailand battled its worst flooding in 80 years and experienced 10 deaths from the flood and disrupted transportation.
- Typhoon YagiThe influence will disappear, weakened into a tropical depression still steals the delights and joys but it only matters that imminent heavy rain threatens to flood places even more, and the chance of landslides rises.
- India launched Operation Sadbhav, pledging $1 million in aid and sending relief supplies. UNICEF issued a warning that children will suffer as a consequence.
- The locality experiences great storms and floods because of past floodplain losses.
