Ovitrap Baskets to be Rolled out in Karnataka as Dengue Numbers Spike

Karnataka has recorded more than 24,028 dengue cases and five deaths. The state's health agency announced, on August 26 of that year Ovitrap baskets were placed in a limited-trial initiative to trap and monitor for mosquitoes.

Ovitrap Baskets Overview

  • Mosquito traps that work specifically in containers: For Aedes aegypti and albopictus.
  • Dark containers such as buckets of water and an area for mosquitoes to lay their eggs.
  • Mesh for preventing the mosquitos to fly away and insecticides in order for them killed when attracted.

  • Help public health officials locate breeding sites.
