India's First Carbon Capture Plant Project Details
- Thermax Limited, Pune, Maharashtra — Pilot plant which can process 1.4 tonnes of CO2 per day
- This is a Public-Private Partnership project between IIT Delhi, Thermax Limited.
- Significant support also has come from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) as several officials were present to attend the foundation ceremony.
- The pilot plant, which costs ?31 crore (USD 3.7 million)—invested by the DST under the Ministry of Science and Technology
- The initiative is in line with the Panchamrit target to reduce carbon improve emission and promote sustainable development.
- The project is a major stride in India's quest for fighting climate change.
