Taiwan Launches Global Elite Card to Address Labor Shortage

In response to a rising labor crisis that is predicted to cause a 350,000 worker shortfall by 2028, Taiwan has introduced the Global Elite Card in an effort to draw in qualified overseas experts. Taiwan is also getting ready to launch a Digital Nomad Visa for remote workers in an effort to increase its workforce.

Taiwan’s Global Elite Card and Digital Nomad Visa Initiatives

  • Global Elite Card enables foreign professionals to earn permanent residency in Taiwan in one year, unlike the previous Gold Card.
  • An annual income of more than TWD 6 million is the minimum requirement for eligibility (around ?1.57 crore).
  • The spouse and a dependent family member can file for a visit unlimited times.
  • A Digital Nomad Visa is being created by Taiwan for professional freelancers and remote workers with a maximum residency of six months.
  • Both goals are to appeal to more than 200,000 professionals and 100,000 remote workers.
  • In addition to airline miles and VIP airport access, the global elite card comes with amenities such as concierge services and partnerships with luxury companies.
