Africa Environmental Status in 2024

Poor water quality and unsafe sanitation methods have detrimental effects, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. These issues raise the risk of illness and cause extensive water contamination. Inadequate sanitation facilities and contaminated water are major causes of mortality in this area.

Effects of Unsafe Water and Sanitation in Sub-Saharan Africa
