Held in New Delhi, the National Conclave on Gender Mainstreaming

National Conclave on Gender Mainstreaming by the Ministry of Rural Development, New Delhi This event aimed to improve the response of rural development projects, especially under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) towards gender concerns. Event was jointly organised with event partner IWWAGE (Initiative for What Works to Advance Women and Girls in the Economy).

  • The conclave sought to make the rural programs more gender sensitive,
  • The government assured to provide socio-economic inclusion for the enhancement of rural livelihoods.
  • Shri Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of Rural Development emphasized the importance ‘whole-of-government approach’

Empowering Women

  • In this context, Shri Nagendra Nath Sinha spoke about the contribution of DAY-NRLM in bridging gender divide and economic upliftment of women.
  • Shri Charanjit Singh, Addl Secretary Rural Development spoke about promoting SelfHelpGroups and Village Organisations.

Panel Discussions

  • Conclave discussed on gender-responsive community institutions, convergence pathways, gender integration in program design and alliance and advocacy.

  • The event was attended by government officials, SHG members OHGs), gender experts and civil society representatives.
