Spoiler from New Delhi: Delegates of 120 countries will attend the Seventh Session of the Assembly of International Solar Alliance (ISA) that scheduled to take place on November 3-6,2024 in New Delhi. The meeting, which was chaired by Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy of India, Shri Pralhad Joshi discussed ways to strengthen worldwide cooperation on solar energy in order to overcome challenges associated with energy access and climate change.
ISA Assembly: The Top Decision Making Body
- Intended to encourage its members to increased use of solar energy, advance the accessibility of electricity, increase energy security, and assist countries in their switch to renewable energy, especially in regard to solar.
Key Initiatives Discussed:
- SolarX Startup Challenge: For Emerging solar entrepreneurs
- STAR-C Initiative*: Training and infrastructure for high-quality solar artisans.
- The Global Solar Facility: To boost investments in solar access at the local level.
- First Solar Festival of the World : Aims to stimulate innovation and cross-border collaborations in solartechnologies.
But expanding solar energy faces two big challenges:
- No investments to be able to finance projects.
- Issues with Infrastructure on solar energy system installation and maintenance
- Countries must also build their own manufacturing capacity so that they are not dependent on imports.
Global Synergy and Guidance:
- The gathering, which was co- chaired by India and France, showcased some international collaboration in solar investments and technology.

- Solar funding collaboratives
- Facilitate the local entrepreneurs in the solar sector.
