A reversible neutering vaccination for dogs that simply needs a simple injection has been discovered by Chilean researchers. Surgery, the conventional method of neutering, may no longer be necessary thanks to this vaccination. One of the first canines in Santiago to attempt this novel approach was a little terrier. Discussions about the benefits and drawbacks of the standard surgical neutering procedures have been triggered by this discovery all throughout the globe.
Neutering and Spaying in Dogs
- Neutering — the surgery performed on a male dog to prevent puppies• Spaying — the surgery performed on a female dog to prevent puppies
- Male dogs are castrated, that is, their testicles are removed, while female dogs are spayed — either the ovaries, the uterus, or both.
- Non-invasive surgeries that usually have a recovery period of a week
Neutering Vaccine
- Developed by veterinarian Leonardo Saenz, it temporarily stops dogs' reproductive hormones, similar to conventional neutering.
- Works on both male and female dogs; Price: $54
Pros of Classic Neuter and Spay
- lowers the chances of some cancers and reduces conduct problems.
- Spaying reduces the risk of womb infections and breast tumours.
- Neutering male dogs can eliminate the possibility of testicular cancer.
Issues and Opposition to Surgical Neutering
- There are new studies showing that neutering, especially in larger breeds, can have lasting effects such as making them overweight, problems with their hips, and tearing their ligaments, along with increasing the likelihood of developing some types of cancers.
Unveiling Neutering Vaccine With Reverse Effect
- Is a non-surgical method for controlling reproduction.
- Continued research will offer additional options for pet owners.
