Google DeepMind has launched an AI project for 125 Indian languages

Google India Division called Deepmind is giving the lead to a major AI Project "Morni". This project would enable AI systems to identify and operate 125 different indian languages & dialects. This is important simply because for multiple language speaking India, it will ensure availability of AI to everyone irrespective their command over the English Language.

Morni Project: Over 100 Languages In AI

• The Morni Project intends to represent a set of more than 100 languages in India, many of which have no official status
• The project runs into challenges for there is no digital data in many Indian languages focussed by it, — 73 out of the target set of an on-paper counting to be as high as125.
• Initiative represents a combination of artificial intelligence tool support and training data for India's speech recognition ecosystem, facilitated by Google DeepMind via Project Vaani in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science & ARTPARK.
• Project Vaani has collected data of 14000 hours from speech samples in the reference languages including that observations made across all levels.
• DeepMind by Google Founded in 2010, dominant AI research company best known for its deep-learning programs AlphaGo and AlphaFold (and effect on healthcare & energy usage reduction).
