(Act4Dyslexia) Campaign in India

India's Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhavan, two important government structures, were lit in red. The "Act4Dyslexia" campaign included this event. Approximately 35 million schoolchildren, or 20% of India's population, suffer from dyslexia and other learning difficulties. The goal was to increase awareness of these conditions.

Dyslexia: Types of Understanding and Misconceptions

  • Dyslexia is a specific learning disorder with an impaired skill profile concerning linguistic processes, including reading, writing, spelling, as well as mathematics.
  • It is commonly mistaken for intelligence and therefore becomes stigmatised.
  • One of every five individuals in India is found to be learning disabled, with 35 million children in school alone.

Act4Dyslexia Campaign

  • Accordingly, the campaign is focused on changing perception and eradicating prejudice towards learning disability.
  • Among them is the illumination of big buildings, including those in Patna, Ranchi, Jaipur, Kohima, Shimla, & Mumbai.
  • The event is organized with UNESCO MGIEP and the ChangeInkk Foundation, which endeavors for educational reformation and sensitization.

  • Some famous achievers also suffer from dyslexia, such as Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, and so on.

Goals of the Campaign

  • The HIV infection prevention campaign is intended to socially predispose people and increase the level of tolerance.
  • It also supports resources and services for students with dyslexia.
