FSSAI New Guidelines for Food Delivery in India

New regulations for food delivery via e-commerce were issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). This occurs when India gets ready for a spike in travel between November and March. Food safety during this busy time is the goal of increased monitoring.

FSSAI’s Directive and Central Advisory Committee Meeting

  • FSSAI recently advised the state authorities to step up surveillance of food delivery warehouses to protect consumers.
  • The agency pointed at the need for the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for warehousing and deliverers.
  • FSSAI officials called on state food safety commissioners to move with speed, especially when it comes to point attraction destinations.
  • FSSAI urged states and union territories to step up food safety standards as a result of the expected upsurge in tourist arrivals.
  • FSSAI argued that for states and FBOs, it is important to develop training schemes to develop practices for the safety hygiene of foods.
  • The meeting pointed out that all sectors required a synergy to implement the food safety, and it suggested that state and district advisory committee meetings should be convened on a regular basis.
  • FSSAI wants consumers to be an active force in creating better eating habits for people, the Eat Right India campaign.
  • More than sixty officials attended the CAC meeting aimed at enhancing measures to food safety rules in India.
