On September 17, 2024, Chennai celebrated the 146th birth anniversary of Periyar E.V. Ramasamy; an eminent social reformer and rationalist from Tamil Nadu. The honours were led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin who remembered Periyar for his invaluable contributions to the causes of equality and social justice.
