New Delhi Hosts 7th ISA Assembly on Solar Energy

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly held its seventh session on November 5, 2024, in New Delhi. The next Director General was declared to be Mr. Ashish Khanna of India. As the Alliance's leader since 2021, he takes over from Dr. Ajay Mathur. With an emphasis on tackling common issues that member nations confront, the ISA works to promote solar energy internationally.

Isa Director General’s Role and Method of Election

• The Director General assists the member countries in the implementation of solar energy.
• It is a teamwork position and requires people to act in unison to deal with challenges.
• Three options were presented to choose from: the narratives of a contest where three candidates imagine a world dominated by solar energy.

Advocacy and Knowledge Management

• ISA is aimed at advocacy, analyzing, and capacity-building approaches.
• The Global Solar Facility’s intent is to mobilize $50 million of commercial capital for unserved populations.
• SolarX Start Up Challenge focuses on African and Asia-Pacific solar-based innovations that can experience high growth rates.

International Collaboration

• ISA organizes operations in international forums and holds the first International Solar Festival in the calendar year of September 2024.
