Pandemic Fund Project in India

The Pandemic Fund Project was introduced in New Delhi by Union Minister Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh. The goal of this project is to improve India's animal health security. It seeks to enhance the cattle industry's readiness and reaction to pandemics. A $25 million grant from the G20 Pandemic Fund is supporting the effort.

Pandemic Fund Initiative for the Livestock Sector

  • Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel; Shri George Kurian Shri Amitabh Kant, G20 Sherpa & Prof. Dr. V K Paul
  • Singh: The livestock sector holds enormous potential for social & economic upliftment.
  • Control Programme for Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) & Brucellosis—National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP)
  • Intent to put FMD Disease Free Zones in nine states by giving a safe zone to livestock places.
  • The Pandemic Fund will strengthen surveillance of pathogens, prioritize cross-border collaboration, and establish an integrated system for disease management.
  • Support for building India's responsive system to animal health emergencies, increasing the resilience of the sector to handle future pandemics.
