Five new classical languages—Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, Pali, and Prakrit—have been recognized by the Union Cabinet of India, which is chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. - Besides this other languages like Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Odia were granted the classical status
Significance of New Additions
