Campus of IIT Delhi in Abu Dhabi

The new Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi was inaugurated by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, member of the royal family and crown prince. It is a big one and the first IIT to be operational outside of India. This event has significantly helped in enhancing the international academic collaboration between India and United Arab Emirates.

Importance of IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi and future prospects

• First launched in February 2022 as one of the areas for greater collaboration between India and UAE, under Vision Document.
• First cohort began their studies, made up of 52 students enrolled in two undergraduate programmes: Computer Science and Engineering; Energy Engineering.
• Methods of admissions to encourage a wide range of students: JEE Advanced Exam/ CAET(helping in selecting a diverse segment as well) and maintaining high standards on academicsocioeconomic parameters.
• First Master of Technology program in Energy Transition and Sustainability introduced.
• Globalisation of Indian Education — IIT Delhi is stepping into International space with opening up a Institute in Abu Dhabi.
• Opportunities ahead – increased courses, research collaboration, industry engagement and interoperability cuturely mutually beneficial.
• IIIT Delhi Abu Dhabi is positioned as a catalyst in promoting innovation, cultural integration and increase of India-UAE economic cooperation.
