Kerala Chief Minister inaugurates India first supercapacitor manufacturing facility

India's first supercapacitor manufacturing plant was recently opened by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Keltron Component Complex Limited (KCCL) in Kallyassery, Kannur. This is a significant turning point for Keltron and the Indian electronics sector.

Heritage of Keltron and Future Facility of Supercapacitor in Kerala

  • Keltron is a government Electronics and IT company in India.
  • The supercapacitor facility, which has been developed with the support of ISRO is likely to offer further fillip to Kerala's rising profile as an electronics hub and will serve industries such as defence, electric vehicles.
  • ?1,000 crore investment more by the Kerala government in electronics including factories upgrade and new infrastructure
  • Modernising facilities and assembling small manufacturing clusters & testing centers to support local companies (Keltron).
  • Electric vehicles, space missions (wow), defence, automotive and aerospace industries need supercapacitors at a fast time rate storage-release of energy.
  • KCCL is looking to manufacture about 2,000 supercapacitors on a daily basis and expect an annual turnover of ?22 crores with profit after tax at ?3 Crore at the end of five years.
  • Key officials join the government and industry leaders were there to attend the inauguration of its new facility.
