Himachal Pradesh has taken a step toward technology-enabled schooling with the rollout of the ‘Padhai with AI’ initiative in Bilaspur district. Launched at Barthin by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the programme is designed to integrate artificial intelligence into the public education framework, particularly to support students preparing for competitive examinations.


Digital Tools to Enhance Exam Preparation

The platform offers curated study content, practice assessments and adaptive learning support tailored to district students. By combining automated analytics with structured coursework, the initiative aims to improve conceptual clarity and exam readiness. The state leadership underscored that education reforms now require the use of emerging technologies to make high-quality learning resources more widely available.


Reducing Inequality Through Technology Access

A core objective of the programme is to bridge disparities in access to coaching and academic guidance. Students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds can access the same digital resources, including ongoing academic counselling and performance feedback. The model seeks to create a continuous support system that helps learners plan preparation strategies and track progress over time.


Collaborative Implementation at the District Level

The Bilaspur district administration is spearheading execution with institutional backing from NTPC under its social responsibility initiatives. Senior state officials attended the launch, highlighting coordinated governance between departments to modernise public education delivery through locally managed digital infrastructure.


Parallel Push for Clean Energy Development

On the same occasion, the state government formalised a partnership with Geotropy India Pvt. Ltd. to explore geothermal energy potential. The agreement reflects Himachal Pradesh’s broader ambition to diversify its renewable energy portfolio with sources capable of providing uninterrupted, low-emission power alongside existing hydropower assets.
