Indian Army Launches DIME Platform to Modernise Logistics Ecosystem

Indian Army Launches DIME Platform to Digitally Transform Logistics Management

The Indian Army has rolled out a new pan-Army digital logistics platform named Depot Integration Management Edition (DIME) , marking a major leap in the modernisation of its logistics and supply-chain architecture. The platform is aimed at accelerating logistics cycles, cutting down paperwork, and providing commanders with near real-time visibility of assets across formations.

Objective and Functional Reach of DIME

DIME has been designed to offer end-to-end visibility of logistics assets , from the unit level up to Army Headquarters. By integrating data from depots, formations, and field units, the platform enables commanders to track inventory levels, monitor movement of supplies, and assess logistics preparedness across the force.

The initiative reflects the Army’s broader shift towards technology-driven, data-centric decision-making , especially in managing complex logistics networks spread across diverse terrains.

Collaborative Development and Digital Integration

The platform has been jointly developed by the Indian Army and Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG-N). DIME standardises digital workflows across Army depots and units, replacing fragmented manual processes with a unified, interoperable digital system.

This transition is expected to enhance accuracy, improve accountability, and significantly speed up logistics operations across peace-time and operational environments.

Analytics-Driven Decision Support

DIME provides commanders with integrated dashboards, predictive stock analytics, and exception-based alerts . These tools allow early identification of shortages, better demand forecasting, and efficient redistribution of resources.

According to officials, the platform is expected to:

  • Reduce paperwork by nearly 70%

  • Compress logistics cycles by around one-third

  • Improve responsiveness through automated approvals and alerts

Such capabilities enable proactive logistics planning rather than reactive management.

Strengthening Operational Readiness

By ensuring real-time situational awareness of logistics assets, DIME enhances the Army’s operational readiness and supply-chain resilience . Accurate, timely data allows commanders to take informed decisions, supporting faster mobilisation and sustained operations in both peace and conflict scenarios.

The platform aligns with the Army’s ongoing efforts to integrate digital solutions into core military functions and strengthen institutional efficiency.
