The  World Government Summit (WGS) 2026  commenced in Dubai under the theme  “Shaping Future Governments,”  assembling a prestigious gathering of global leaders, policymakers, and CEOs. A key address was delivered by  International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva . She noted the  unexpected resilience of the global economy  despite geopolitical tensions. Georgieva highlighted that while initial tariff announcements were high, effective rates have been lower due to negotiations, and global trade has  adapted rather than collapsed . She expressed strong optimism, stating that  artificial intelligence (AI) is a major driver for boosting productivity  and contributing to the IMF's upgraded global growth outlook, including for Gulf economies like the UAE.
