Gujarat CM Lays Foundation Stone for Phase I of Rs1,632-Crore Shakti Corridor at Ambaji

Foundation stone laid for first phase of Shakti Corridor

Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat, laid the foundation stone for development works worth ₹950 crore under the first phase of the Shakti Corridor at Adyashakti Dham Ambaji. The corridor project has been planned with a total outlay of ₹1,632 crore and aims to significantly upgrade pilgrimage infrastructure at one of the State’s most prominent religious centres.

Key components of Phase I development

The first phase of the Shakti Corridor will focus on improving access, mobility and pilgrim facilities. Major components include multi-level parking complexes, an underpass road, a Yatri Niwas, pedestrian pathways, the Shaktipath, the main corridor stretch, and an amphitheatre. Together, these facilities are expected to ease congestion, enhance safety and improve the overall experience for devotees.

Long-term master plan for Ambaji

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said a comprehensive master plan for Ambaji has been prepared, keeping in mind the requirements of the next 25 years. He noted that the development of Adyashakti Dham Ambaji is being carried out under the inspiration and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The focus, he said, is on combining modern infrastructure with cultural and spiritual heritage.

Pilgrimage-led development vision

The Chief Minister referred to the national approach of “Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi”, under which several major pilgrimage sites have been redeveloped across India. He highlighted initiatives such as the Somnath Swabhiman Parv and redevelopment works at Kashi Vishwanath, Mahakal Lok, Kedarnath and Baidyanath Dham. Ambaji, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, occupies a special place in this vision, with annual events like the Shakti Peeth Parikrama Mahotsav drawing over five lakh devotees.

Connectivity, tourism and local employment

As part of ongoing development, facilities such as the Parikrama Path, Cultural Village and a light-and-sound show at Gabbar have already been introduced. The proposed Ambaji–Taranga rail project is expected to further improve connectivity and stimulate local economic activity in Banaskantha district. State ministers noted that the Shakti Corridor project would not only enhance pilgrim amenities but also generate employment opportunities in the region.
