Basic Overview
- Date of Formation: June 2, 2014 (The 29th state of India, following the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014).
- Capital: Hyderabad (De Jure - until 2024, common capital during 10 years, according to AP Reorganisation Act). New Capital: These are under development in Amaravati (after 2024).
- Primary Capital: Hyderabad was a 10-year (2014-2024) shared capital.
- Districts: 33 (Originally 10, since increased by extension).
- Major Rivers: Godavari, Krishna, Musi, Manjira, Bhima, Penganga.
- State Bird: Indian Roller (Palapitta).
- State Animal: Spotted Deer (Jinka).
- Name of Tree: Jammi Chettu (Prosopis cineraria).

Telangana Movement.
- 1956: Combined with Andhra State to make Andhra Pradesh following the Gentlemen Agreement that was not fully respected.
- 1969: The great agitation in favor of separate state-hood started.
- 2001: K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) founded the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), currently Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) whose unique purpose was to attain statehood.
- 2009-Dec: The movement was enhanced when KCR went on indefinite fast-unto-death.
- July 30, 2013: The Congress party that was ruling and UPA stated that Telangana has been formed.
- Parliament passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 on February 18, 2014.
- June 2, 2014: The state of Telangana became official.

- First Chief Minister: K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR)
- First Woman Deputy CM: Kadiyam Srihari (It is highly inaccurate to call her a woman). Md. Mahmood Ali was the first Deputy CM. Telangana has yet to have its female deputy CM. An accurate fact would be First Woman Speaker: S. Madhusudhana Chary, was the first speaker. With a woman one can say First Woman Minister: Indrakaran Reddy was a minister, but with a particular fact of a first woman, it is better to mention the active leaders, such as K. Kavitha , a distinguished leader nowadays)

- Regions: Telangana is situated at Deccan Plateau.
- Large Forests: Kawal Tiger Reserve, Nagarjunsagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve (part), Amrabad Tiger Reserve.
Irrigation Projects:
- Kaleshwaram Project: Largest multi stage lift irrigation project in the godavari river.
- Palma-rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme: Located on Krishna river.
- Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project: This is on the river Godavari.
- Mission Bhagiratha: Flagship scheme to supply piped drinking water to each household through river and reservoir sources.
Art, Culture, and Festivals
- Cultural Icon: Sammakka-Sarakka (Medaram) Jatara is a great tribal gathering usually regarded as the largest tribal gathering in Asia.
- Classical Dance: Perini Sivatandavam (or Perini Thandavam), was a warrior dance of the Kakatiya dynasty.
- Art Forms: Cheriyal Scroll Painting (a GI tag art), Dhakki (artistic metal-engraving), Bidri Craft.
- Festivals: Bathukamma (a flower festival of women), Bonalu (festival of Goddess Mahakali), Ugadi (Telugu New Year).

- NTPC Ramagundam: A thermal power station is a large one.
