Suruchi Singh and Samrat Rana Win Silver in 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team at Asian Championship

India’s Medal Momentum Continues at Asian Championship

Indian shooters Suruchi Singh and Samrat Rana secured the silver medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Asian Shooting Championship , reinforcing India’s strong presence at the continental meet.

The Indian duo delivered a record-breaking performance in the final but narrowly missed out on gold against a consistent Uzbek team.


Record-Breaking Final, Narrow Miss for Gold

Suruchi Singh and Samrat Rana posted an impressive final score of 479.6 , setting a new world junior and Asian junior record in the mixed team event. However, Uzbekistan’s pair of Nigina Saidkulova and Mukhammad Kamalov clinched the gold medal with 481.3 .

India began the final strongly, leading after the opening series with 100.5 points . The Uzbek shooters overtook them by the third series and maintained their advantage through the elimination stages, eventually finishing on top.


Qualification Round and Other Indian Results

In the qualification stage, the Indian pair recorded a combined score of 583 , identical to the Vietnamese team of Vinh Thu Trinh and Minh Cong Lai . India progressed to the final due to a higher number of Inner 10s , the official tie-breaking criterion.

India’s second mixed team, comprising Manu Bhaker and Sharvan Kumar , finished ninth with a score of 571 , missing out on the final.


India’s Strong Medal Tally in Air Pistol Events

India’s senior air pistol campaign at the championship has so far yielded:

  • Two gold medals

  • One silver medal

  • One bronze medal

Earlier, Esha Singh won gold in the women’s individual air pistol event, while the women’s team also claimed gold. The men’s team secured silver, and Samrat Rana added an individual bronze medal to his tally.


Dominance in Junior Air Pistol Category

India’s success extended to the junior events as well. The reigning junior World Cup and Asian champion captured gold in the junior women’s 10m air pistol with a score of 237.9 , while Vanshika Chaudhary won silver.

The junior women’s team—comprising Vanshika Chaudhary, Rashmika, and Agam Grewal —secured team gold with a total score of 1,714 , finishing ahead of Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka.
