OVERVIEW
The Karnataka government has introduced a new mobile app called KAAMS. It stands for Karnataka Advanced Attendance Management System. The app is also named Kartavya-KAAMS. It uses Artificial Intelligence, Facial Recognition, and Geo-Fencing to track attendance. All permanent teachers, Head Masters, officers, and non-teaching staff in government schools and offices must use it. They need to mark attendance twice a day from their duty location. The system started on 1 May 2026 for the academic year 2026-27. It replaces the old biometric system.
WHAT IS KAAMS?
KAAMS stands for Karnataka Advanced Attendance Management System . The government of Karnataka’s Department of School Education and Literacy introduced it through a circular dated 27 April 2026 . The mobile app is also called Kartavya-KAAMS .

KEY FEATURES OF KAAMS
The Kartavya-KAAMS app uses three modern technologies:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Helps verify identity smartly

Facial Recognition – Matches the employee’s face with their registered photo

Geo-Fencing – Ensures the employee is at the correct duty location
To use the app, employees must:

Verify the mobile number linked with the Human Resource Management System (HRMS)

ATTENDANCE PROCESS – TWICE A DAY

This system applies from the academic year 2026-27 . It replaced the earlier biometric attendance system starting from 1 May 2026 . The new system is now used across government departments, boards, and corporations.
SYSTEM INTEGRATION AND ADMINISTRATIVE USE
