Uttarakhand Launches e-Swasthya Dham for Char Dham Yatra Healthcare

Tech-Driven Health System Ensures Safe Char Dham Yatra 2026

The Uttarakhand government has introduced an integrated healthcare framework for the Char Dham Yatra , with a major focus on digital monitoring and emergency response. A key component is the e-Swasthya Dham portal, designed to track pilgrims’ health in real time and enable timely medical intervention during the high-altitude journey.

Real-Time Health Monitoring

The e-Swasthya Dham system will continuously record health parameters of pilgrims throughout the Yatra. Screening checkpoints have been established along the routes where regular medical examinations will be conducted.

This approach helps in early detection of altitude-related illnesses and reduces risks associated with crowded pilgrimage conditions.

Strengthened Medical Infrastructure

Authorities have deployed a comprehensive healthcare network along the Yatra route. This includes medical units at all major stoppages and pilgrimage sites.

  • 25 medical relief posts

  • 33 health screening centres

These facilities are equipped to provide immediate care, stabilisation and referral services when required.

Emergency Response Mechanism

A strong emergency support system has been established with 177 ambulances , including advanced life support and cardiac units.

Special provisions include:

  • Boat ambulance services in Tehri

  • Helicopter evacuation managed by AIIMS Rishikesh

The focus is on rapid response and efficient patient transfer in critical situations.

Human Resource Deployment

To ensure continuous healthcare support, trained personnel have been deployed across the Yatra route. The workforce includes specialist doctors, medical officers, paramedics and volunteers working in rotational shifts.

This coordinated system ensures uninterrupted medical assistance for pilgrims.
