India is now gradually becoming self-reliant (Atmanirbharta) in pulses, with a report of NITI Aayog Strategies and Pathways to Accelerate Growth in Pulses providing the roadmap. The country is the largest producer and consumer of pulses in the world but still imports part of what it needs. The orchid species Gastrochilus pechei has been recorded new in Vijoynagar, in Arunachal Pradesh, at 1,200 metres.
