Supreme Court Sets Up Panel to Modernise Court Infrastructure Across India

OVERVIEW

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has taken a big step to improve court buildings and facilities across the country. He formed the Judicial Infrastructure Advisory Committee. This committee will make a national plan to modernise all courts. Many district courts today have old buildings, crowded rooms, poor digital systems, and not enough space. The new committee is headed by Supreme Court Judge Justice Aravind Kumar. It includes judges from three High Courts and senior government officials. The panel will suggest better courtrooms, digital tools, and facilities for lawyers and citizens.

CJI SURYA KANT ANNOUNCES MAJOR JUDICIAL INFRASTRUCTURE REFORM

To make India’s justice system faster and better, the Chief Justice of India has created the  Judicial Infrastructure Advisory Committee . The main job of this committee is to find out what is wrong with court infrastructure and then prepare one common development plan for all judicial institutions across the country.

Different states have different needs. This initiative will look at the needs of High Courts and District Courts separately. The committee will send its recommendations directly to the CJI. After that, the government will discuss with state governments to arrange money and carry out the work.

WHO IS PART OF THE HIGH-POWERED COMMITTEE?

The committee has senior judges and administrative experts. It is led by:
