PM MITRA Park Inaugurated in Warangal-A Mega Hub for India’s Textile Industry

OVERVIEW

The Prime Minister of India recently opened a new PM MITRA Park in Warangal, Telangana. PM MITRA stands for Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel. This is a large textile hub. It brings all steps of textile production into one place. Spinning, weaving, dyeing, printing, and garment making – everything happens at the same location. Seven such parks are being built across India. The Ministry of Textiles runs this scheme.

Good news for India’s textile sector. The Prime Minister recently inaugurated the PM MITRA Park at Warangal, Telangana. This is one of seven approved parks under the scheme. The park will help create jobs and boost textile production in the region.

WHAT IS PM MITRA PARK?

PM MITRA stands for  Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel . It is a mega textile hub. Think of it as a one-stop shop for everything related to cloth and clothes. The park brings together:

  • Spinning (making yarn from cotton or other fibres)

  • Weaving (turning yarn into fabric)

  • Dyeing (adding colour to fabric)

  • Printing (making designs on fabric)

  • Garment making (stitching clothes)

All these steps happen inside one single zone. This saves time and reduces transport costs.

TYPES OF PM MITRA PARKS

PM MITRA parks can be of two types:

  • Greenfield:  Built on empty land from scratch

  • Brownfield:  Built on land that already has some existing facilities

WHERE ARE THE SEVEN PARKS LOCATED?

The Government of India approved seven PM MITRA Parks. They are coming up in these states:
