Introduction of Rural Healthcare Program.
During World Health Day, the Maharashtra government initiated a new rural healthcare campaign called “Majha Gaon, Arogyasampann Gaon” (My Village, Healthy Village). The program, whose cost is ₹65.25 crore, will focus on enhancing healthcare service provision in the rural communities and making quality healthcare services more accessible to the households.
Leadership and Launch Event.
Devendra Fadnavis unveiled the campaign in Mumbai, with the presence of Eknath Shinde, Sunetra Ajit Pawar and Health Minister Prakash Abitkar. It was accompanied by the release of a brief film and an information booklet on the goals of the scheme and its implementation plan.
Campaign Goals.
The main objective is to enhance access and outcomes of healthcare in rural Maharashtra. The project aims at transforming villages to be more independent in dealing with health issues, decreasing the burden of diseases and improving the general living standards. It aims at providing the much needed medical services especially in the remote and underserved areas.
Emphasis on Preventive Healthcare
An important aspect of the campaign is that it is more about prevention and not merely treatment. It encourages sanitation, clean drinking water, good waste management and better nutrition. The program also deals with communicable diseases and lifestyle related diseases. Mothers and child health, as well as mental health awareness are given special consideration.
Implementation and Community involvement.
Monitoring and coordination to guarantee proper execution have been set up at state, district and village levels. Villages with set health standards will be deemed as Arogyasampann Gaon. The programme aims to be a participative movement, where the local communities are actively involved to deliver sustainable health outcomes.
