National Sub-Junior Boxing Championship starts.
The 7th National Under-17 (Sub-Junior) Boxing Championship has been inaugurated in Nagpur and this was a significant development in the youth sports of India. Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the tournament and it has been experiencing a good turnout of participation by the whole country which is a positive sign of the increasing popularity of boxing among young athletes.
Broad Engagement and Compete Design.
The championship has drawn close to 600 participants, approximately 350 boys and 250 girls. Approximately 180 coaches and team managers and 70 officials are present to support the event, making sure that it is well organised. The levels of competitions are being held on 13 categories of weights so as to provide level playing field to all competitors.
Home of Young Boxing Prodigies.
The tournament is important in discovering and developing young boxing talent in India. It will expose the athletes to good exposure in terms of competition at the national level, and this will enable the athletes to gain skills, confidence and a competitive experience. The fact that the championship selects the Indian Under-17 team to take part in the Asian Boxing Championship that was to be held at Tashkent is one of the biggest highlights of the championship.
