Overview
Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has established a Special Task Force (STF) of high level to develop mitigation measures to the agricultural sector. It has been implemented in reaction to the increasing problems of climate variability, resource constraint and the necessity to propagate sustainable farming in India.
About ICAR
ICAR is an independent body operating under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare with Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE). On 16 July 1929, it came into existence under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, in accordance with the recommendations of the Royal Commission on Agriculture.
Functional and Importance.
ICAR is the peak organization that coordinates, directs and regulates research and education in agriculture and other related fields. It is also at the forefront in supervising agricultural universities and research institutions throughout India, including the fields of horticulture, fisheries, and animal sciences.
