Overview

Indian Air Force concluded fifth Warfare & Aerospace Strategy Programme (WASP) with Capstone Seminar on 29 June 2026 in New Delhi. Air Marshal AP Singh, Chief of Air Staff, attended as Chief Guest. Six-month programme trains mid-ranking officers in strategic thinking and aerospace warfare. WASP began in 2022.

What is WASP?

WASP stands for Warfare & Aerospace Strategy Programme. The Indian Air Force started this programme in 2022. It is a Professional Military Education programme for mid-ranking officers. The programme helps officers think deeply about strategy and national security.

Who Conducts the Programme?

Two institutions run this programme together. The Centre for Aerospace Power and Strategic Studies (CAPSS) in New Delhi manages the programme. The College of Air Warfare (CAW) in Hyderabad conducts the training. Both institutions work together to give officers a complete learning experience.

Who Can Join WASP?

The programme is mainly for Indian Air Force officers. But it is also open to personnel from the Indian Army and the Indian Navy. Civilians working in the Ministry of Defence can also join. This makes the programme diverse and brings different perspectives together.

What Happened at the Capstone Seminar?

The fifth WASP ended with a Capstone Seminar on 29 June 2026 in New Delhi. Air Marshal AP Singh, who is the Chief of the Air Staff, attended as Chief Guest. Former Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan (Retd) was also present. Many other veterans attended the event to support the participants.

What Did Participants Study?

Participants presented their analyses on two important themes. The first theme was "Evolution of Aerospace Power: From Classical Strategy to Contemporary Limited Conflict." The second theme was "Future-proofing Aerospace Power: Innovation, Integration and Force Design." These themes helped officers understand both past lessons and future challenges.

New Journal Released

The inaugural WASP CAW Journal was released on 29 June 2026 during the seminar. This journal will document important research and analysis from the programme. It will serve as a valuable resource for future participants and researchers.
