India–Finland Relations Strengthen as President Stubb Attends Raisina Dialogue

Alexander Stubb is on an official visit to India from March 4 to 7, 2026, following an invitation from Narendra Modi. During the visit, President Stubb will participate as the Chief Guest at the Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi. The trip marks his first visit to India since assuming the presidency and highlights efforts to deepen bilateral relations.


Role in the Raisina Dialogue

President Stubb will deliver the keynote address at the 11th edition of the Raisina Dialogue, widely regarded as India’s leading platform for discussions on geopolitics, geoeconomics and global governance.

The annual forum brings together heads of state, ministers, policy experts, academics and business leaders from across the world to discuss emerging global challenges. Finland’s participation reflects its increasing engagement with Indo-Pacific affairs and expanding strategic dialogue with India.

A high-level Finnish delegation including ministers, senior government officials and business representatives will accompany the President, indicating a focus on both political and economic cooperation.


Bilateral Meetings and Diplomatic Engagements

During the visit, President Stubb will hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to review the full spectrum of India–Finland cooperation. Key areas expected to feature in the talks include trade, digital technology, clean energy, innovation and educational partnerships.

The visiting leader will also meet Droupadi Murmu, C P Radhakrishnan and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. These engagements highlight the diplomatic significance attached to the visit.

India and Finland share common democratic values and support a rules-based international order. Finland remains an important partner for India within the European Union and the Nordic region. The visit follows closely after Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo’s participation in the AI Impact Summit in India in February 2026, indicating sustained high-level engagement between the two nations.
