OVERVIEW
The Election Commission of India will conduct a month-long Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Odisha. It will start on 30 May 2026. This is part of Phase III of the revision, which covers 16 states and three Union Territories. Booth-level officers will go door-to-door to check voter details. They will remove duplicate entries, deceased voters, and shifted voters. The draft voter list will be published on 5 July 2026. The final list will come out on 6 September 2026. Odisha has about 33.4 million voters as of 12 May 2026. The revision will also be coordinated with Census house-listing work.
SPECIAL INTENSIVE REVISION OF ELECTORAL ROLLS
Special Intensive Revision is a field-based process. It updates electoral rolls through house-to-house verification. The process finds and removes:
-
Duplicate entries (same person listed twice)
-
Deceased electors (people who have passed away)
-
Shifted voters (people who have moved to another place)
-
Other errors in the voter database
This helps keep the voter list clean and accurate.
