An MoU to Make Delhi's Prepaid Taxis More Digital
An MoU was signed by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited and Delhi Traffic Police on 4th February 2026 to digitalize Delhi's prepaid taxi system. This move would enhance convenience, safety, and transparency as 34 taxi booths are installed at 21 important locations around Delhi.
Clear Assignment of Duties and Responsibilities
According to the MoU, Delhi Traffic Police will be assigned duties concerning the operation of the taxi booths. These include hiring employees, driver authentication, passenger safety, and control room setup for monitoring the services. However, Sahakar Taxi Cooperative will be responsible for installing digital systems and financial operations like salary payments, maintaining booths, and promoting the brand name.
Improved Payment and Service Mechanism
One significant aspect of the scheme involves digitalization. It will help make the system more transparent with clear fares, ease of payments, and efficient service delivery. Thus, commuters will have a seamless experience with fewer hassles.
