National Maritime Day and Its Importance.

Every year, on April 5, India celebrates the National Maritime Day in memory of its maritime culture and the significance of the shipping industry. The day celebrates seafarers, the port authority and other maritime institutions that enable world trade and global connectivity and also the future potential of the industry.

Freshwater Fish Fossils Found in Shivalik Region.

The first palaeontological discovery was made in the Shivalik Hills off Dehradun where fossils of freshwater fish were discovered. The discovery provides a new dimension to the region previously known primarily through terrestrial fossils and provides the information about ancient ecosystems of northern India.

India Progresses on Ghatak UCAV Programme.

Under the Ghatak UCAV Programme, India will upgrade its air combat capabilities by induction of stealth unmanned combat aerial vehicles. The Indian Air Force received the approval to procure remotely piloted strike aircrafts to replace the old models, clearing the way to four squadrons of the state-of-the-art combat drones. This step benefits India to modernize its defence long-term objectives as per Vision 2047.

Production Increases at a moderate pace in March.

The manufacturing activity of India was also experiencing a slowing down in March as the HSBC India manufacturing PMI dropped to 53.9 against 56.9 in February. Though the index has increased above 50 mark, which shows growth, the decline shows slower growth in the industry.

Karnataka Leads in Drone Didi Application.

Karnataka has become the best performing state in training women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) as drone pilots as part of Namo Drone Didi Yojana. The project enhances the empowerment of women, as well as injecting modern technology in the agricultural sector to facilitate precision farming and the enhancement of rural livelihoods.
