Kerala Introduces Monthly Pension for Women and Transwomen

The Government of Kerala has formally rolled out the Sthree Suraksha Scheme, a monthly pension programme designed to provide income support to unemployed women and transwomen from economically weaker sections. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the scheme in Malayinkeezhu, Thiruvananthapuram. The first instalment of Rs1,000 has been credited to more than 10.18 lakh approved beneficiaries.

The 33.7-kilometre greenfield corridor will link Gohpur (NH-15) with Numaligarh (NH-715) in Assam at an estimated cost of Rs18,662 crore. Implemented under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model, the project is designed to substantially enhance multimodal connectivity across the Northeast.
