BRIC-RAB Meeting 2026: India Biotechnology Push Explained

India Biotech Vision is reinforced by BRIC-RAB Meeting.

On 27-28 March 2026 the Biotechnology Research and Innovation CouncilResearch Advisory Board (RAB) had the first meeting in Regional Centre of Biotechnology, a major milestone in India biotechnology sector. BRIC was established as an initiative of the department of biotechnology to integrate 14 independent institutes to establish a coordinated and innovation oriented research network.

 


Development and BRIC-RAB Role.

K. VijayRaghavan is the chair of Research Advisory Board. It also offers strategic guidance to research operations in BRIC institutes. The board evaluates the current programmes, proposes new research missions and makes sure that the scientific work is directed to national objectives as well as economic development.


Vision of a Unified Biotech Ecosystem.

Rajesh S. Gokhale, Secretary of DBT and Director General of BRIC, emphasized the mission approach in bio-technology. It is concerned with the creation of a coordinated and flexible system whereby institutions are allowed to collaborate in their own strengths. Its objective is to establish a powerful national biotech network.


Pay attention to Co-operation and Innovation.

The meeting emphasized the need to work together as disciplines. Research facilities were demanded to be shared and open data systems and enhanced resource utilization were identified. India has become more advanced in the field of advanced research, as was demonstrated in such areas as healthcare, agriculture, environment and bio-manufacturing.
