West Bengal records Highest Turnout since independence.

The recent Assembly elections have seen the best voter turnout in West Bengal since Independence . In two phases, the state recorded a total of 92.47% turnout according to data released by the Election Commission of India.

This is higher than the last mark of 84.72% in the year 2011 , and is an achievement in terms of political participation in India.

Both phases saw extraordinary turnout in the election:

  • Phase I: 93.19%
  • Phase II: 91.66%
  • Overall turnout: 92.47%

Phase II turnout:

  • Male voters: 91.07%
  • Female voters: 92.28%
  • Third gender voters: 91.28%
