Supreme Court looks at governor mandates of Articles 200 and 201

A constitutional Presidential reference has recently been filed in May 2025 in the Supreme Court of India. The reference aims to gain a clear picture on the 14 questions which are about who can wield power on the Governors and the President through Articles 200 and 201 of the Constitution. This is after the historic decision of the Court in May 2025 in the case State of Tamil Nadu vs. Governor of Tamil Nadu that provided schedules in which Governors had to take action against the State Bills and the leaders of the Government to take action to end the delays, and delays were judicially checked.

Election Commission Deregisters 474 Unrecognised Political Parties

According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), 474 Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPPs) have been dropped due to not having contested an election in the last 6 years. This step is contained in a bigger initiative of sweeping the electoral process to leave in the system only active and compliant parties. By this move, the 808 who have been removed among the RUPPs alone in the last two months leaves 2,046 of these parties still on record.

Commissions Adamya-Class Fast Patrol Vessel of the Indian Coast Guard

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) commissioned the most recently built ship, ICGS Adamya, on 19 September 2025 at Paradip Port, Odisha, and was an indigenous project. This is the beginning of the first of eight Adamaya-class Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) which have been designed and constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), yet again enhancing the maritime capability of India in the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
