Kerala Introduces Monthly Pension for Women and Transwomen

The Government of Kerala has formally rolled out the Sthree Suraksha Scheme, a monthly pension programme designed to provide income support to unemployed women and transwomen from economically weaker sections. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the scheme in Malayinkeezhu, Thiruvananthapuram. The first instalment of Rs1,000 has been credited to more than 10.18 lakh approved beneficiaries.
