Richard Lewer Wins Archibald Prize 2026 for Portrait of Pitjantjatjara Elder Iluwanti Ken

Overview

The Archibald Prize 2026 was awarded on 8 May 2026 to Richard Lewer, a Melbourne-based artist. He won for his portrait of Iluwanti Ken, a Pitjantjatjara Elder, senior artist, and traditional healer (ngangkari). The prize comes with $100,000 cash. The winning work was chosen from 1,034 entries. Bihar New One-Time Settlement Scheme: Pay 50 Percent Less on Pending Traffic Challans

Overview

The Bihar government launched the Traffic Challan One-Time Settlement Scheme, 2026, through a gazette notification on 30 April 2026. The scheme offers up to 50% relief on pending traffic e-challans for certain offences. It will remain open through the financial year 2026-27. Justice Ramachandra Huddar Appointed Chairperson of Karnataka Admission Overseeing Committee

On 8 May 2026, the Government of Karnataka appointed Justice Ramachandra Dattatray Huddar, a retired judge of the Karnataka High Court, as the new Chairperson of the Admission Overseeing Committee (AOC). The AOC oversees admissions to professional courses like engineering, medical, and dental programmes in the state. The post had been vacant since October 2024 after Justice B. Manohar’s term ended.
