World Food Day – 16 October 2025

• Theme 2025: "Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future"
• Purpose: Encourage world food security and promote awareness of hunger, particularly in times of crises.
• History: Founded by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945; recognized internationally since the 20th FAO Conference held in 1979.
• Significance: Celebrated by more than 150 nations to promote hunger alleviation, poverty elimination, and sustainable agricultural systems.

• Coverage: Now includes promoters, key management personnel (KMPs), shareholders holding >5% equity, entities with significant influence, and their relatives.
• Relevance: Commercial Banks, Small Finance Banks, Cooperative Banks, NBFCs, and All India Financial Institutions.
• Objective: Harmonize lending to related parties, make legacy provisions more logical, and establish a harmonized regulatory framework.

• Objective: Modify ECB regulations under FEMA (Borrowing & Lending) to tie borrowing limits to financial strength of borrower.
